POSITION SUMMARY:  The primary function of this position is to manage the school’s technical infrastructure and to provide building-level assistance to teachers and students in the use of technology.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill, and/or ability necessary.

 

  1. High School Diploma with training in computer field; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in computers preferred
  2. Advanced Skills with Word, Excel, e-mail, and Google cloud-based technology 
  3. Excellent time management skills; ability to prioritize work and deliver organized projects on time 
  4. Superior organizational skills; ability to handle frequent interruptions
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required 
  6. Knowledge of office procedures & ability to use equipment
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  8. Ability to assess a situation and problem-solve
  9. Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements 
  10. Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee must have the ability to perform the following essential functions on a timely basis with or without reasonable accommodations.  To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

 

Ensure infrastructure availability and reliability:  Provide the first level of troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of the network, networked items, peripherals and AV equipment. These services are requested and prioritized through a trouble ticket system. The ticket system must be kept current with all requests, read, and prioritized within 24 hours. Refer tickets to District Technology when necessary.

 

Details and examples:

  1. Install, maintain, and repair all networked items
  2. Develop standard computer images for the school and ensure that all computers are updated or re-imaged annually. Install any user-specific software as needed (especially with Special Ed)
  3. Support printers and other peripherals
  4. Work with district maintenance to install Smartboards. Install the projectors and software. Maintain software and clean filters periodically
  5. Ensure all miscellaneous equipment is running (including but not limited to, cameras, sound systems, scanners, iPods/iPads, projectors, etc.)
  6. Run and terminate network cabling
  7. Maintain building inventory
  8. Responsible for Student 1:1 Devices and Labs
  9. Repair Student Chromebooks
  10. Setup new Chromebooks for students
  11. Maintain lab hardware and software
  12. Support IT departmental goals
  13. Attend meetings, drive improvement, communicate issues and needs
  14. Cooperate & communicate regularly with principal and staff
  15. Play a key role in coordinating activities, and maintaining a positive relationship between the district technology group and the building.
  16. Know and adhere to UCFSD IT policies and procedures. Work with the principal to maintain compliance with the Acceptable Use Policy
  17. System Administration
  18. Various Online Curriculum, Active Directory (limited), and Google
  19. Manage IT/AV supplies
  20. Work with other support staff and teachers to anticipate supply needs
  21. Make recommendations to the principal to help manage the IT budget
  22. Place orders for IT supplies
  23. Maintain Website Content
  24. Update the school website, clean content, running audit reports on the website.  
  25. Assist other departments with maintaining website content
  26. Provide support and maintain refresh cycle for staff devices including but not limited to: 
  1. MacBooks
  2. Windows Laptops
  3. iPads
  4. Chromebooks
  5. Document Cameras
  6. SMART Interactive Panels/SMART boards and Projectors
  7. Classroom Sound Systems
  8. Any other duties as required by Principal or Director of Technology

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Support technology integration

Assist staff and students in the proper use of technology. These activities vary from building to building based on priorities set by the principal and agreed to by District Technology.

 

Notes and examples:

  1. Run the TV studio for the morning show as needed
  2. Help set up AV equipment for assemblies and special events
  3. Provide technical support for building activities such as concerts, assemblies, etc.
  4. Facilitate webinars
  5. Provide first-level building technology training, for example
  6. Teach students and staff how to properly use IT/AV resources
  7. Provide in-service training as needed
  8. Assist teachers in the selection of IT materials and equipment
  9. Assist students with special projects at the request of teachers
  10. Take digital photos and videos of concerts, assemblies, and other special events.
